ARE YOU CONSIDERING REHOMING YOUR DONKEY?

We know and understand that situations come up where people can no longer keep their donkeys. Perhaps it's declining health, relocating, financial problems, divorce, or a death in the family. We have a decade of experience working with and rehoming donkeys of all ages from Mammoths to Minis and we are here to help.

Whatever the reason, we don't want to see any donkey end up in an abusive, neglectful, or questionable home environment; and we certainly don't want them to end up in the kill-pen pipeline or at the hands of kill-pen brokers.

We encourage you to consider bringing them to our donkey shelter and refuge where we will provide them with a much-needed safety net. We will take good care of your donkey(s) and will follow your usual routine as closely as we can to feel some sense of normalcy in their routine. If a request has been made to find a specific type of family and home environment for their donkey(s), we do our level best to honor that request if at all possible.

We will take care of any veterinary, farrier, and training needs prior to taking steps to rehome them to ensure a successful adoption. We are meticulous in our vetting process, and we make sure that the new owners are knowledgeable in the proper care of donkeys as well as being able to demonstrate that they can successfully approach, halter, and lead the donkey. Most importantly, we make sure they know how to properly pick up and clean all four hooves before they can take their donkey(s) home. 

Although we can't give you the new adopter's contact information, as a courtesy, we will let you know when your donkey(s) has been adopted and we will give you any updates we receive so you will take comfort in knowing they are safe.
